Family Threads News - January 2026 HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year to everyone! Welcome to our first newsletter of 2026 — we’re keeping things a little light as we ease into the new year.

We wanted to let you know that our Holiday fabric and kit sale starts tomorrow. Be sure to check the details below so you don’t miss out.

While we were hoping to announce new classes right after the holidays, our class schedule is a bit lighter than usual at the moment. A couple of our regular teachers need to take some time off, and we appreciate your patience while we work on what’s next.

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and that you’re dusting off your machines — whether you’re finishing projects that got paused during the holiday rush or starting something brand new. Either way, we’re always here if you need us.

We hope to see you soon!

WHAT'S NEW AND HAPPENING

We do our best to keep up with social media, but when the shop is bustling and threads are flying, not everything makes it to our feeds right away. That’s where the newsletter comes in. Think of this as your cozy insider update — sharing the latest arrivals, shop happenings, and all the fun we’re stitching up behind the scenes (even if it never made it to Instagram).

If you’d like to follow along between newsletters, you’ll find us here:
Facebook: FamilyThreadsQuiltShop
Instagram: @familythreadsinSJB

And don’t forget to tag us and use #familythreadsquiltshop — seeing what you’re creating is truly one of the best parts of our job.

Until next time, keep calm and stitch on!

WORD(S) OF THE MONTH

INCONDITE and LALOCHEZIA

"In the incondite language of quilting, a little lalochezia goes a long way — especially when the bobbin runs out mid-seam."

DEFINITION
Incondite (adj) — describes something that is obscure or little-known.
Lalochezia (n) — names the act of releasing frustration through words.

Each week our good friends at Machine Medics come to pick up/drop off your sewing machines.

Each week Luis (with Karen's help sometimes) brings us a word and we have to figure out the definition. It's now become a source of entertainment we thought we'd share.

Thank you for supporting Family Threads Quilt Shop! We’re excited to be going into our 16th year—and it’s all thanks to you. Your continued support means the world to us, and we’re so grateful to be part of your creative journey.

Here’s to quilts, community, and many more years of stitching together! We can’t wait to see you again soon.
