Greetings to you my friends and customers!
I wanted to share an update with you. I have been diagnosed with blood cancer. Those are scary words to say… “I have cancer.” It actually took me a few days before I could say it out loud.
Some of you have been there yourselves, and no doubt all of you have seen someone you love fight this battle. I am now starting my second round of treatment and I have great determination to get through this and return to my happy place at the shop. I miss everyone and everything!
My goal is to be back this summer.
Thank you so much for all the thoughts, prayers, cards, and kind inquiries. They mean more to me than you know.
In the meantime, business continues as normal. The gals are amazing and doing a wonderful job keeping everything running, and I’m incredibly grateful for them.
Have no worries… fabric continues to arrive weekly, and Halloween, fall, and Christmas fabrics will begin arriving in June!
I truly appreciate your support.
We hope to see you soon!

WHAT'S NEW AND HAPPENING
We do our best to keep up with social media, but when the shop is bustling and threads are flying, not everything makes it to our feeds right away. That’s where the newsletter comes in. Think of this as your cozy insider update — sharing the latest arrivals, shop happenings, and all the fun we’re stitching up behind the scenes (even if it never made it to Instagram).
If you’d like to follow along between newsletters, you’ll find us here: Facebook: FamilyThreadsQuiltShop Instagram: @familythreadsinSJB
And don’t forget to tag us and use #familythreadsquiltshop — seeing what you’re creating is truly one of the best parts of our job.
Until next time, keep calm and stitch on!

Some days San Juan Bautista just shows off.
With clear blue skies overhead, the hills glowing that lush winter green, and the Mission standing quietly at the heart of it all, it’s especially beautiful right now. Even the little details stop you in your tracks — those soft aqua-blue doors, weathered walls, and shaded walkways that feel like they’ve been waiting patiently to be noticed.
We’d absolutely love for you to come see us at the fabric shop while you’re here—but even if you’re just passing through, San Juan Bautista is well worth a little visit. Wander the grounds, enjoy the views, soak it all in… and if fabric happens to be part of the plan, well, we won’t argue

WORD(S) OF THE MONTH
|

|
LUCUBRATION and NIDIFICATE
"Following a bit of quilting lucubration, we’ve decided spring is the perfect season to nidificate—gather some fresh fabrics, settle into your sewing space, and begin your next beautiful quilt."
DEFINITION Lucubration (n) — deep thought, study or meditation - sepcially the kind done late at night (Serious thinking or pondering something carefully - often when you should probably be asleep).
Nidificate (v) — to make or build a nest (To create a cozy nesting space.)

Each week our good friends at Machine Medics come to pick up/drop off your sewing machines.
Each week Luis (with Karen's help sometimes) brings us a word and we have to figure out the definition. It's now become a source of entertainment we thought we'd share.
