Hello there!
I’m sitting in for Cindy this month. She doesn’t really have an update just yet, but hopefully we’ll have some news to share soon.
Here at the shop, we’re getting ready to celebrate a pretty big milestone — 16 going on 17 years! Our anniversary is coming up in October, and of course, we couldn’t let that pass without celebrating with a sale. You’ll find all the details below.
And somehow, the holidays are just around the corner! I’ve included our holiday hours below, so please give them a peek before you hop in the car and head our way. We’d hate for you to make the drive up or down only to find us closed!
I’ll admit, social media has been a bit neglected this month. There just haven't been enough hours in the day. I may attempt a little catch-up soon, so if you suddenly see a flurry of posts from us on Instagram or Facebook, you’ll know what happened. And if you see a duplicate or two… well, just pretend it’s new.
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating our anniversary. But if you can’t make it, no worries — we hope to see you soon!

ROOM TO SEW — More Days, More Flexibility!
(Formerly Finish-It Friday)
We’re giving Finish-It Friday a little makeover! Rather than limiting open sewing to specific Fridays each month, we’re opening up the classroom whenever it isn’t being used for a class or scheduled event.
Time: During regular shop hours — give us a call ahead of time Cost: $5 per person
Need a little Room to Sew? Come spend some time in our classroom! Bring a project you’re ready to start, a WIP (Work in Progress) that needs some attention, or just come enjoy a few uninterrupted hours of sewing.
Give us a call ahead of time and we’ll check the calendar. As long as the classroom isn’t already booked, you’re welcome to pack up your project and your machine and come sew!
Want to sew with friends? Gather your group and reserve the entire classroom for $50 for the day.
Same sewing room. Same excuse to ignore the laundry. Now with a lot more days to choose from.

TIP: THREAD MATTERS
Here’s something we’ve learned over the years and from Machine Medics: sometimes it really is the thread!
We often hear, “My machine was sewing just fine, and now it’s giving me trouble.” Before blaming the machine, take a look at the thread you’re using. Thread doesn’t necessarily get better with age! Over time, especially if it has been exposed to heat, humidity, sunlight, or less-than-ideal storage conditions, thread can lose strength and become more prone to breaking.
Even thread that looks perfectly fine can cause problems. Old or weakened thread may break, fray, create uneven stitches, or simply make your machine work harder than it should. The right thread also needs to be matched to your needle, fabric, and machine for the best results.
So, if your trusty machine suddenly seems to be having a bad day, check the thread before you panic! Sometimes a fresh spool (from top to bobbin) is all it takes to get things humming along happily again.
After all, when it comes to sewing, Thread Matters!

Each week our good friends at Machine Medics come to pick up/drop off your sewing machines.
Each week Luis (with Karen's help sometimes) brings us a word and we have to figure out the definition. It's now become a source of entertainment we thought we'd share.
